Pupils Award 2009

294 pupils awarded

A total of 294 pupils have received the "Förderpreis der Wirtschaft 2009" (sponsorship award of the economy 2009). "Good future researchers in the engineering and natural scientific field are scarce", said the president of the University of Paderborn Prof. Dr. Nikolaus Risch. "Our University of Paderborn and the regional industry has therefore offered this sponsorship in order to support natural and engineering sciences and the regional commitment of good pupils".

Due to the great success of last years presentation the sponsorship has been enlarged over the whole district of Paderborn this year. The awards were handed over to the best pupils of the 9 and 10 grade of all comprehensive and grammar schools throughout the region of Paderborn. The awardees stand out due to their excellent performance in natural sciences (subjects like biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics). Every awardee received prize money of 75 Euro and a certificate for his special effort.

In the award ceremony took part the president of the University of Paderborn Prof. Nikolaus Risch, the chancellor of the University Jürgen Plato as well as representatives of the involved companies. Present were also the mayor of Paderborn Heinz Paus, the regional officers Manfred Müller (Paderborn) and Hubertus Backhaus (Höxter). For the CLAAS Foundation took part Sylvia Looks (second from left).

Awardees experience "day of agriculture"

A group of 60 pupils who where awarded with the Pupils’ Award 2009 visited CLAAS at the day of agriculture. They found out the meaning of agriculture for the feeding of the growing world population and that the today’s agriculture works with the latest technical equipment. The technique affine pupils experienced firsthand combine harvesters, tractors and self-propelled forage harvesters. They also visited the combine production.

All information the pupils received during this day could be invested profitably into a competition. As there was more than one correctly filled in questionnaire at the end the fortune decided about the winner. The lucky fellow was Florian Rohner who won a remote-controlled XERION.

60 pupils and 14 teachers visited CLAAS at the day of agriculture.

In small groups the pupils gained an insight in the modern world of agriculture...

...for example about the XERION tractor.

Florian Rohner has won a remote-controlled XERION, which was presented to him by Uwe Lütkeschümer (Executive Board CLAAS Foundation).
