The CLAAS Foundation has started a new initiative where each year a specific university is selected to closely cooperate with. Partner University of the year 2007 is the Bulgarian university „Angel Kanchev“ in Rousse. The CLAAS Foundation sponsors the agricultural faculty with a budget of 15.000 Euro. The dean of the faculty, Hristo Beloev, is going to invest this amount into new laboratory and metrology equipment as well as new presentation techniques.
Prof. Marko Todorov, Vice chancellor of Rousse University, and Sylvia Looks, director of the CLAAS Foundation, sealed the new partnership. Prof. Todorov, who has lived in Germany for a period of time and that way has an excellent command of the German language, was very pleased to be the first university of this new partnership programme. „Partnerships of this kind magnificently contribute to a Europe growing together“, states Sylvia Looks.
Sylvia Looks was accompanied by Dr. Ludger Frerichs, who is responsible for advanced development at CLAAS and member of the Foundation team. The German guests had the chance to get a full picture of the faculty and could discuss the future cooperation between the University of Rousse and the CLAAS Foundation in detail.
Next year two students from Rousse are going to travel to Germany in order to gain insight into the ins and outs of the management of a German farm. This way the internationality of the partnership should be accounted for.
